An Intimate Wedding in Northern Virginia Wine Country
The couple met when Evan moved into the same apartment building as Megan, and the two quickly formed a friendship. It didn’t take long for their relationship to bloom into an epic love story. After getting engaged and having to withstand a long-distance relationship, the pair planned an intimate and romantic wedding at Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg.
Their wedding pays tribute to the beauty and importance of the little details, while also letting the location enhance the celebration. Evan and Megan said “I Do” in an outdoor ceremony set in Salamander’s culinary garden, where a color palette of greys, blues, green and gold tones set the stage.
Happily anticipating their union, Evan and Megan got ready on the resort’s grounds, which are located not far outside of Washington D.C. in Virginia wine country. Megan gifted her bridesmaids with a flower-printed robe in the wedding’s color palette. Their invitation suite pulled in seasonal green and gold hues visible in the other touches of the day.
The bride’s delicately laced, strapless fit and flare gown was accentuated by an embellished grey sash that matched Evan’s suit. A trail of buttons down the back of the dress and train added a touch of romance to her look. Her something blue shined through on a stunning, vintage style bracelet.
A royal blue sash wrapped around her bouquet brimming with a blend of seasonal colors, flowers and greenery tied in with the bridesmaids’ dresses. An on-trend accessory, Megan sported a full flower crown showcasing the same floral selections seen in her bouquet.
To help with keeping the chilly breeze off of them, the bride and bridesmaids wore grey fur shawls, elevating the romance and elegance even further.
The ceremony in the culinary garden created an intimate space. An ornamented wooden arbor only accentuated the natural beauty of a setting sun over the Virginia countryside. After reading hand-written, heartfelt vows to make their union official, the pair took to an indoor reception to continue the momentous celebration.
Megan and Evan wanted to capture and play off of the surroundings in their décor, so they incorporated elements from both the indoor and outdoor venue spaces, creating a moody yet captivating scene.
Small, decorative vases with complementary bouquets mirrored the bridesmaids’ bouquets and were accented by grey menu cards at each seat. Guests enjoyed a three-course sit-down meal, complete with toasts of kind words and good wishes from family and friends.
A three-tiered, simply accented white wedding cake stood before the tables with a spotlight of its own, and featured three different flavor combinations. The couple chose Carrot Spice Cake layered with orange cream cheese buttercream, rich Almond Cake layered with vanilla buttercream and raspberry preserves, and Apple Spice Cake layered with vanilla creme and oatmeal streusel.
As newlyweds, Megan and Evan cut and shared a piece of cake, sealing the moment with a smiling kiss. After indulging on one of the cake’s three layers, everyone took to the dance floor to laugh and move to the music under multicolored lights.
Completing a day filled with love and support, the new Mr. & Mrs walked through a cheering tunnel of their cherished friends and family. Guests were sent off with homemade cookies, tagged with a small heart and the hashtag #kissthecookes, a clever play on the couples newly shared name.
