Nathan and Sarah met in high school. Initially, Sarah was wary about beginning a relationship—she was a junior and he was a graduating senior—but he persuaded her to give him a chance.
Meet the Newlywed Couple
They maintained a long-distance relationship through college. “It was like we got to grow up together, but independently,” Sarah said.
A Romantic Floral Wedding at a Virginia Winery
Sarah attended James Madison University and fell in love with the Virginia wine scene.
They were living in Washington D.C. while planning their wedding but looking at venues near their Florida hometown. “It just didn’t feel like Nate and I,” Sarah remembered.
Peach Wedding Flowers for a Winery Wedding
They refocused and began planning a Virginia wine Country wedding. Sarah had been to Stone Tower Winery before and she remembered the sweeping mountain views and the winery’s elegant rustic charm.
Stone Tower Winery was the perfect combination of her and Nate’s hopes for the wedding venue.
A Classic Virginia Vineyard Wedding in Peach
Sarah and Nate originally hoped to be married in front of a cross but were concerned about blocking the mountain views that drew them to have their wedding at Stone Tower Winery in the first place.
The florists designed an on-trend half-moon floral altar using peach wedding flowers for the Stone Tower Winery wedding instead, with blooms of various heights creating a soft structure. The arrangements were as colorful as Sarah’s bouquet and Nate’s boutonnière.
The color of the bridesmaid’s dresses came from the bright peach in the floral palette.
A Romantic Reception at Stone Mountain Winery
While looking for a cake topper, Sarah discovered an emerging trend—using pictures of the bride and groom in place of a traditional topper.
They opted not to do a “first look” on the wedding day but asked Nate’s sister to take Polaroids of them before the ceremony instead.
Those photos served as an alternate first look and a trendy cake topper, and a memento for the couple to cherish.
Peach Wedding Flowers at a Vineyard Wedding
For Sarah, everything started with the flowers. Her dream was a colorful, romantic floral scheme, and Flor de Casa brought it to life.
Sarah wore a Madison James gown and stylish blue shoes. She loved the Loeffler Randall high heeled sandals but opted not to buy them because of the extra expense.
Personal Details at a Virginia Vineyard Wedding
Her mother turned up at her final dress fitting with a surprise—her dream shoes, a gift from her sister and bridesmaids.
One of Sarah’s favorite memories of the day was the unexpected opportunity to wait in the vineyard at Stone Tower Winery before the ceremony.
Nathan and Sarah’s Happily Ever After
Instead of sitting in the wings while the guests settled, Sarah, her father and her flower girl hid among the vines and watched as their friends and family came in and the bridal party proceeded.
She cherished that moment of being able to watch her loved ones as they walked down the aisle before her. ~
