Jacob and Madison, high school sweethearts, married in a joyful ceremony at King Family Vineyards in the heart of Virginia Wine Country. Their families had been close for years and Madison’s brothers were thrilled to finally count Jacob, one of their closest friends, among their family.
Meet the Newlywed Couple
A Blue and White Wedding at King Family Vineyards
Madison dreamt her wedding would convey “timeless elegance.” Chinoiserie, the Chinese-inspired art and design style popularized in Europe, fit her vision beautifully. And, while blue and white has become a classic décor trend, it’s also a stunning theme for a wedding, offering a romantic garden meets Europe vibe for this vineyard celebration.
Styling a Blue & White Wedding
Madison paired her stunning Justin Alexander mermaid gown with sandal heels embroidered with pearls while her coordinating pearl earrings were perfectly framed by her soft braided updo.
Jacob wore a tan suit and white tie, the light colors following a trend we see increasingly in groom attire.
A Classic Blue and White Vineyard Ceremony
The King Family Vineyards ceremony was held in front of a cross that Jacob built himself. A symbol of their love for each other and for God, the newlyweds plan to incorporate it into the landscaping of their home.
The bridesmaids each chose their own gown style in a beautiful pale blue to coordinate with the wedding palette for this King Family Vineyards wedding. The white bridal bouquet was accented with sweet sea holly, her “something blue” while the overflowing vases of hydrangeas and delphinium brought all the elements together.
A charming alternative to traditional flower girls, the couple invited their beloved grandmothers to precede them down the aisle scattering petals.
A Blue & White Wedding Reception at King Family Vineyards
Everyone enjoyed the evening of dancing that was launched with a choreographed entrance by each partnered pair in the wedding party, ranging from dance routines to mock football plays that delighted all the guests at this King Family Vineyards celebration. The King Family is an integral part of the Monticello Wine Trail, an award-winning collection of Charlottesville wineries.
The blue and white floral arrangements from the ceremony also graced the tablescapes at the vineyard reception coupled with graceful white linens and tableware. The stage was set for romance with candles on the tables and accents of greenery.
Delicious food provided by Country Cupboard Catering was served on elegant blue and white Chinoiserie plates. Soft seagrass chargers lend an organic vibe to the tables and perfectly suit the French country style bentwood chairs.
Using Blue and White Décor
The beautiful wedding décor featured heirloom silver pieces, antique furniture and Chinoiserie from the bride’s family collections. Above, soft party lighting, boxwood globes and blue and whine chinoiserie paper globes highlighted the beautiful woodwork of the King Family Vineyard’s event space.
Blue and white hydrangeas graced the traditional chinoiserie vases on custom whitewashed antique furniture and made a showstopping addition to the various white blooms and pale blue coneflowers in the bridal bouquet.
Blue & White Details at a Winery Wedding
The stationary suite was a classic white paper with a French blue floral motif hinting at what was to come for guests. The bride’s mother sourced chinoiserie-patterned paper hand fans as gifts for the wedding guests.
Madison designed two custom cocktails named after the couple’s two dogs—”the center of our world,” she remarked. The custom napkins also had pictures of the pups on them, tying the whole family together.
Jacob & Madison’s Happily Ever After
They worked some whimsy into the couple’s first look with another current trend, the “false first look,” with a groomsman—in this case, the bride’s youngest brother—pretending to be the bride. Jacob’s shock when he turned around to see his friend and future brother in an ill-fitting wedding gown was priceless, and the humor quickly turned to awe when Madison finally made her appearance.
Their day was a triumph of love, commitment and family, both born and made.
