Get inspiration from Molly and Ed’s Provencal-inspired nuptials, which combined timeless elegance with thoughtful details. The couple celebrated their special day among the lush summer scenery at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards.
Meet the Couple
While Ed was attending the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, Molly and Ed fell in love with the Virginia countryside and Pippin Hill in particular. Ed proposed on the grounds of UVA and took Molly for a celebratory toast at Pippin Hill, only then to reveal that he had planned a surprise engagement party there with their closest friends and family.
A French-Inspired Wedding Ceremony
Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards’ distinctive rolling vineyard landscape and panoramic vistas reminded the couple of Le Mas Des Poiriers en Provence in France, the idyllic French countryside estate that inspired the décor, style and ambiance of their special wedding day.
Molly and Ed enlisted the exceptional talents of Simply Chic Events, Southern Blooms and photographer Shannon Moffit, along with an all-star team of vendors to realize their vision for a French- style wedding soiree. Through thoughtful details and exquisite culinary delights the couple infused their passion for Provence into the breathtaking Virginia Wine Country vistas of Pippin Hill.
Pre-Ceremony Details
Intimate moments were peppered throughout the day. Molly and Ed shared a first look together amidst the blooming white hydrangeas, where their goldendoodle, Banks, surprised them for a joyful family portrait.
Guests ambled along the iconic hydrangea pathway and sampled from a bar cart of refreshments before seating themselves in front of the stunning arbor of pale pink roses, dusty pink wild roses and hydrangeas designed by Southern Blooms. Guests were invited to sign a coffee table book of the chateau, which was laid atop a linen tablecloth designed by Stradley Davidson for the event.
A Lush Ceremony Amid the Blue Ridge Mountains
The couple said their vows underneath a romantic floral arch, complete with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Molly walked down the aisle surrounded by dusty pink and white hydrangeas matching her own bridal bouquet. Her gown from Carolina Herrera featured a simple silhouette with an elegant accent bow on the back that looked stunning moving down the aisle.
The bridesmaids were encouraged to choose dresses from the color palette of the day that felt true to their own style. The bridal bouquet’s blue satin ribbon seamlessly tied them all together for a cohesive look.
Reception Party
In lieu of renting all of the linens for the day, the couple found ways to infuse heirloom keepsakes for their future home together. They worked with Stradley Davidson to select hand-stitched napkins, gorgeous tablecloths and custom pillows to use both for the reception and for future use.
The tablescapes featured romantic lighting with dusty pink pillar candles and glass candle holders amid delicate floral centerpieces.
The same flowers are highlighted on the couple’s classic two-tier cake courtesy of Cake Bloom. Personal touches tie the ceremony together, creating an intimate atmosphere.
Artful Details
In lieu of a traditional departure, Molly and Ed opted to have a sparkler exit with an intimate group made up of immediate family and their bridal party. These romantic, personal experiences allowed the couple to bask in the company of the full community while savoring something sweet just for themselves.
Thoughtful, personal details incorporated throughout the celebration created a gorgeous wedding day where the guests felt the relaxed, bubbling joy of Molly and Ed as they began this new chapter together.
